Only a few more days before WDCD Live São Paulo takes off and, to be honest, we just can’t wait! We’re looking forward to the talks, the breakouts, the happy hours and of course the after party. And in particular we are looking forward to hear the sweet voice of Xênia França on stage.
Xênia França is a São Paulo-based, Bahia-born Brazilian singer and a force of nature. The front singer of the band Aláfia began her career in São Paulo’s nightclubs singing sambas, popular Brazilian music (MPB) and jazz. França plays a key role in reviving and nurturing the Afro-Brazilian culture and using music to discuss Brazil’s most latent societal issues. With this the singer turned herself into a reference for women empowerment, especially for black women.
Just listen to this clip and you’ll understand why we can’t wait to hear her perform. (Watch it on YouTube with English translation)
