Antalis, Europe’s biggest distributor of paper, is teaming up with What Design Can Do to spotlight one of het most common materials in the design profession: paper. Many remarkable projects involving paper will come up for discussion during a free accessible breakout session from 14:00 to 15:30 on 9 May at the De Balie in Amsterdam.
For the occasion, former director of the British Design Council David Kester, currently a non-executive director at Thames & Hudson publishers and one of this year’s moderators of WDCD, will talk with graphic designer Michael Bierut, partner at design office Pentagram NY and co-founder of the authoritative website Design Observer. With almost 35 years of experience in graphic design, first in the agency of the legendary Massimo and Lella Vignelli and since 1990 at Pentagram, Bierut certainly has a lot to tell about the medium he has worked with most: paper.
In addition, Annette Clayton of Arjowiggins Creative Papers will give a presentation on ‘Paper and emotion in the digital world’. Finally, design office De Designpolitie will hold a short workshop entitled ‘Paper Prototyping’. And of course there will be plenty of opportunity to meet one another while enjoying a drink.
Register now by sending an email to break-out@antalis.nl. Admission is free, also for non-WDCD participants.
