Czech architect and glass designer Bořek Šípek is among the fifty designers, galleries, and artists exhibiting their latest limited editions and one-offs at design fair OBJECT Rotterdam. The fair will be held from 5-8 February in Rotterdam. Šípek will show a large collection of his latest work. He will also be talking, together with artist Joep van Lieshout and designer Richard Hutten, on Saturday 7 February about his objects of desire.
OBJECT Rotterdam is an annual fair balancing on the cutting edge between design, crafts, fashion, architecture and art. This year the fair will be held on cruise ship ‘SS Rotterdam’, the former flagship of the Holland America Line, in the harbour of the city.
OBJECT displays current developments in Dutch and international design from well-known and upcoming designers working in different design disciplines and various materials. One of the exhibitors is Tjeerd Veenhoven, who is known for his products made of palm leather. Anne Holtrop shows his furniture designs inspired on the shapes and patterns of precious stones. Floris Wubben will create new lamps at the venue with his new ‘Globe Machine’ consisting of a glass burner and a bowl
New talents are present as well, including Pleunie Buyink who just graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven with exceptional floor objects, fashion designer Rosa Immers (HKU), and ceramic artist Femke Woltering, a graduate from Rietveld Academie.
