What Is Design? – Frieze Magazine
In her first contribution to Frieze design critic Alice Rawsthorn wonders why the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam gave the floor to ‘old-fashiond showman’ Marcel Wanders in a time in which designers ‘have liberated themselves from their commercial roles to pursue their political, environmental, ethical and cultural concerns on an entrepreneurial basis. […] Museums can make a useful contribution to this process by challenging, analyzing and contextualizing design in its old incarnations, and the new.’

‘We are coming to view design more as a mentality than a skill’ – Dezeen
‘What on earth should you teach future designers?,’ Lucas Verwey asks in a new opinion article for Dezeen. His conclusion: It would be better to leave design thinking to schools of management, interaction and game design to schools of computer science, design criticism to schools of journalism, etc. ‘Let it go. The time has come to give design away.’

H&M Conscious New World – Design.nl
Cassandra Pizzey reporting on the presentation of H&M’s latest Conscious Collection. To the surprise of some a serious debate arose about the true sustainability of the brand. “If you think this was just a publicity stunt which allowed H&M to bring across their sustainable vision, think again.”

European Design Innovation Platform (EDIP)
Several European organisations including the Design Council, work together to deliver the European Design Innovation Platform (EDIP), a digital platform that will bring together knowledge and examples of innovation design from across the EU. The platform will act as a one-stop-shop for anyone interested in finding the latest tools and techniques for applying design, making connections with peers, and finding the latest research.
