Learn how to design with nature (biomimicry) or how to design for the circular economy. Get introduced to the details of Democratic Design by IKEA’s head designer Marcus Engman, or to the fine art of manifesto writing by Canadian designer Bruce Mau.
In its new format WDCD Live Amsterdam 2017 (23 & 24 May), will have two strings of parallel Activation Sessions on each day. Between the plenary sessions in the main hall, in the morning and in the afternoon you will be able to attend workshops, master classes, (Socratic) discussions, battles, tastings and brainstorms that will require your active participation. All speakers and a whole lot of additional experts and moderators will be participating in this surprising and dynamic programme.
Different angles
The sessions approach the event’s main theme of climate change from different angles: Change Behaviour (with sessions in the domains of Food, Mobility, and Home), Change the System (with sessions in the domains of Politics, and Economy), and Change Perspectives (with sessions in the domains of Media, and Technology).
To learn more about the sub-themes, please visit the theme-page on our website. And all 24 individual activation sessions are described in more detail on the activation sessions-page.
Great variety
The programme, which is curated in close collaboration with Reframing Studio, offers lots of variety, both in subjects and formats. Find out how top chef Rodrigo Oliveira combines haute cuisine with inclusiveness and care for the environment, think of new ways of digital activism with Greenpeace director Joris Thijssen, or discuss with Toby Heaps of Corporate Knights how we can convince companies to become climate proof.
Differentiated ticketing
There is a lot to choose from, and that is exactly what you’re expected to do when you buy your tickets. With this edition of WDCD we introduce a new, differentiated ticketing system. In the ticket shop you are able to customise your individual tickets at will.
First you can choose for either combi or single day tickets. Next, those who want the complete WDCD experience can opt for the Passepartout ticket, which gives you access to all the plenary sessions and any two Activation Sessions you would like to attend per day – plus a complimentary lunch voucher.
Those who want more control over their programme and their budget, however, might want to go for the Basic ticket, to which Activation Sessions and any extras can be added at different prices.
Finally, there are (a limited amount of) Student tickets that give access to the plenary sessions and already includes entry to a selection of Activation Sessions. But students too can choose to buy additional tickets for the other activation sessions.
Postponed choice possible
Choosing is not easy and specially not when the Activation Session programme is not entirely finalized yet. That’s why we added the option to buy your general entry tickets now and choose your Activation Sessions at a later stage. You’ll be provided with a link that allows you to complete your programme later on. There is one thing to consider though: some Activation Sessions have limited places, and could be sold out before you return.
