“A platform that amplifies and strengthens diverse perspectives and solutions where design is used as a powerful tool.”
– About WDCD

Marisol Centeno, a textile designer based in Mexico City, creates vibrant textiles that explore the deeper role of design in society and its potential as a tool for change. Her interest in the stories and rituals within textiles led her to spend a year with the Zapotec artisan community in Oaxaca, inspiring the launch of Bi Yuu in 2012, an atelier known for its handmade rugs and colorful, joyful motifs.

In 2016, she founded Estudio Marisol Centeno, a “laboratory” for textile experimentation in Mexico City. Her studio has collaborated with high-profile brands, including Adidas and Cartier, producing innovative textile designs. Centeno’s work has been featured in institutions like the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum and the MUAC Museum. She has also spoken at design events such as LACMA’s Found in Translation craft symposium, reflecting her commitment to using design for cultural expression and social impact.
