Who are the people who will be living in cities in fifty years’ time—and what are their housing needs? These are the questions that drive architect Lyongo Juliana, whose work advocates for a more diverse and inclusive urban design and architecture.
Lyongo started his education at the Pennsylvania State University and continued at the architecture department at TU Eindhoven. He has been active in both the Netherlands and the Dutch Caribbean for the past 25 years. With his office lyongo architecture he works on high profile, modern buildings.
In the Netherlands he focuses on the message of ‘creating a more inclusive architecture. In 2020, he started a research position as Architect in Residence at Arcam and continued this work as a fellow at Pakhuis de Zwijger in the Designing Cities for All programme.
