This product is a lightweight wicker container that can help local vendors transport their produce from the farm to the market. Mfuko-Fresh is designed to protect produce by minimising physical damage from the journey, while storing it in a cool condition. The container can also be transformed into a makeshift market stall whenever needed.
What’s your story?
Our team is made up of 2 university students currently in our last year of architecture school.
” Our idea originated from a discussion with my mother about the struggles the vendors have to overcome to deliver food to markets while keeping it fresh and unharmed. “
How did your project come about?
Our idea originated from a discussion with my mother about the struggles the vendors have to overcome to deliver food to markets while keeping it fresh and unharmed. We have seen the waste created by mishandling produce and poor storage solutions. We developed Mfuko Fresh by looking at the current means of delivery the vendors use and hypothesized that better storage during transportation would be the best solution. We entered the challenge hoping it was an avenue to share ideas to make others lives better.
